September 7, 2026 | City main streets, Calbayog City
The Civic Parade on September 7 brought Calbayog's schools, scouts, and uniformed units together on the city's main streets, one day before the fiesta. It is the quieter tradition beside the street dancing, but it is the one where the whole city walks: students in uniform, bands in full kit, and families lining the route to watch for their own.
The 14th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army and the Northwest Samar State University ROTC Unit led the parade, followed by school marching bands and drum and lyre corps from the poblacion and the barangays. Closing the parade near the end of the line, the Miss Hadang Festival Queen 2026 court passed in a vehicle, greeting the crowd.
Full videos of the parade groups are on the CJ Catalogue YouTube channel in the playlist HADANG FESTIVAL 2026 | CIVIC PARADE, coverage by The Calbayog Journal.

Hadang is an ancient Visayan ritual of making offerings to spirits, for protection, healing, good fortune or a bountiful harvest. It is still performed in Calbayog by local tambalans, and it is the foundation of the city's official festival: known until 2025 as the Sarakiki-Hadang Festival, named Hadang Festival by city ordinance on 1 September 2025, and three times champion at Samar's Tandaya Festival of Festivals.
